Where it fits
Ultra-thin rolled aluminium foil carries the cathode coating and electro-deposited copper foil carries the anode. A micro-porous polyethylene separator keeps the electrodes apart while letting ions pass. All three come in large coils that feed the coating lines.
Why it matters
These were fully imported until Hindalco commissioned India's first battery-grade aluminium foil plant at Sambalpur (Jan 2026), sized for up to 100 GWh of cells. Copper foil and separators are still imported; TCPL Packaging plans India's first wet-process separator line (approved Aug 2026).
Where the value pool sits
Modest per-cell value but sticky once qualified; a natural extension for aluminium rollers and film makers. Copper foil remains the clearest gap.
